Apply Now for Civic Engagement Commission

Apply Now for Civic Engagement Commission
Posted on 11/16/2022

Want to be part of something new and exciting? Make a difference in your community by joining the city’s newest Civic Engagement Commission, which is recruiting its next five board members. The three-year term for these five positions starts Feb. 1. Apply now at AuroraGov.org/Boards.

As a member of this commission, residents will work with Aurora elected officials and city staff to provide recommendations to the city on developing and implementing a broad range of civic engagement programs. There will be opportunities to create initiatives to support and partner with both community-based organizations in their civic engagement efforts and help implement citywide civic engagement programs, including a Civic Engagement Academy.

The new commission launched in 2022 with five members, with plans to add five more in 2023 and a final five in 2024 to stagger member terms.

The commitment of this program includes monthly meetings; commission members will determine the dates and times of the meetings. Boards and commissions are meeting remotely due to the pandemic but will ultimately meet at the Aurora Municipal Center once in-person meetings resume.

To qualify, you must be an Aurora resident and a registered voter.
