Art Classes

Make 2024 the year for more art in your life! Whether you dust off your old art supplies or find a new passion, our art classes can get you started. Classes take place at various recreation centers and libraries in Aurora and are offered year-round for all ages and all skill levels. Classes and workshops are taught by professional artists with advanced degrees and/or years of teaching expertise. Fees vary according to class.

In-person art classes give the student access, in real time, to an instructor for demonstrations and questions while also providing a collaborative, shared experience of fellow artists creating opportunities for feedback within the classroom environment.

Take a class with a child, grandchild, niece or nephew! We are now allowing youth ages 12 and up to register into adult evening classes with a registration of an adult.

We still have space in some of our July Art Camps!

Meet our instructors!

Hilliard Moore

Hilliard Moore retired from the telecommunications industry and opened the Great Western Art Gallery in Downtown Denver. As an artist, he specialized in painting Black Cowboys in the old west along with Cavalry and pioneers. The paintings were done from actual photographs taken during that time period. Art shows include the El Pueblo Museum and the Colorado History Society. His painting of Bill Pickett was displayed at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum. Hilliard's classes are perfect for anyone interested in trying art for the first time.

Hope Blakely, Certified Ross Instructor, is offering Bob Ross one day acrylic painting, mixed media workshops and acrylic painting classes.

Since becoming a Bob Ross Certified painting instructor in 2017 Hope Blakely has gone beyond fluffy clouds and happy trees. She still loves teaching Bob Ross classes, but the Bob Ross style of wet-on-wet painting is so adaptable, especially if you add animals, florals, or portraits.

So come for the Bob Ross workshops but stick around to try Hope’s acrylic painting and mixed media painting classes.
