Community gardens are a critical component of Aurora's sustainability vision. A community garden is a shared green space created and cultivated by volunteers to grow vegetables, fruits and herbs.

2020 Dig in Aurora Community Garden Competition Winners
Kudos to the Murphy Creek and Mountain View Community Garden leaders and volunteers for winning the 2020 Dig in Aurora Community Garden Competition, sponsored by Aurora Water. The light-hearted affair between Aurora’s community gardens allows groups from across the city to meet other gardeners, get new ideas and have fun.
A panel of judges ranked the gardens on four categories – water conservation, appearance, productivity and sense of community – and selected two overall winners to earn the illustrious Golden Shovel award.
Congratulations to this year's winners:
Water conservation category: Delaney
Appearance category: Mountain View
Productivity category: Murphy Creek
Community category: Hinkley
Golden Shovel Award: a tie between Mountain View and Murphy Creek
