Community & Teen Police Academies

Relational policing plays a vital role in reducing crime. In 1993, the Aurora Police Department created the Community Police Academy to increase transparence, provide hands-on learning, and empower community members to help the agency reduce crime.

The Aurora Police Department hosts yearly police academies for adults and youth, each designed to give participants of all ages and abilities a working knowledge of the department. All academies consist of a series of interactive courses and classroom instruction. Classes are offered at no cost to participants and a background check will be conducted on each applicant.
