Aurora Animal Services Statistics

Alaskan MalamuteIn the past the Aurora Animal Shelter collected and reported its shelter statistics in accordance with the Asilomar Accords, including the live release rate. The Asilomar Accords was developed in 2004 and was a mission between various animal welfare agencies across the nation to share information and collaborate towards the common goal of reducing the euthanasia of healthy and treatable animals. The guiding principles of the Asilomar Accords is to provide statistical transparency and a uniform method of reporting shelter data. The Aurora Animal Shelter reports its statistics to Colorado's Pet Animal Care and Facilities Act (PACFA) agency. This is a requirement in Colorado to maintain the shelter's license.
