New COVID-19 Rapid Test Site Opens Oct. 5

COVID-19 testing at the community-based site at the Aurora Sports Park will wind down Sunday, Oct. 4. In its place, a new rapid testing site will open the following day, Monday, Oct. 5, in the parking lot at Restoration Community Fellowship, 15660 E. Sixth Ave.

Road Construction Updates

From Sept. 18 until roughly November, Inspiration Drive in both directions between Inspiration Lane and Pine Drive will have a traffic diversion that requires slower speeds. Please use caution. Additionally, it will be closed to trucks over 40 feet in length in both directions. Trucks over 40 feet should use the signed detour using Pine Drive, Main Street, Parker Road, Tomahawk Road, Inspiration Drive, and Gartrell Road. Hudick Excavating will be reconstructing and improving the road as part of the Inspiration development.

Recycling Station Closing Aug. 31

While the city remains committed to sustainability, the single-stream drop-off site, the Central Facilities Recycling Center at 13646 E. Ellsworth Ave., is unsustainable. Resource limitations due to COVID-19, along with continuous overuse and abuse of the site, have prompted a decision to close the facility Aug. 31.
