The city of Aurora, in partnership with the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG), invites the community to provide input this month for a study to help shape the future of transportation in the Fitzsimons District.
The district, which includes the Anschutz Medical Campus and the Fitzsimons Innovation Community, is one of Colorado’s largest healthcare, education and employment districts.
The Fitzsimons Transportation Solutions Study will evaluate how residents, employees, students, patients and visitors travel throughout the Fitzsimons District.
Community members are encouraged to visit EngageAurora.org/FitzStudy to take the five-minute survey and share location-specific feedback using an interactive comment map. The deadline to share input is Sept. 30.
Feedback will help identify opportunities to make getting around safer, easier and more connected, whether driving, taking transit, walking or biking. The goal is to understand what is working well, where challenges exist and where improvements may be needed as the Fitzsimons District continues to grow.
The study builds on Aurora’s recently adopted Connecting Aurora multimodal transportation master plan, which established a long-term vision for a safer, more connected transportation network throughout the city. The Fitzsimons Transportation Solutions Study brings that vision to the district level by taking a closer look at local transportation needs and opportunities.
DRCOG’s Livable Centers Set-Aside Program, which supports planning efforts that improve transportation, access and mobility within key activity centers across the Denver region, is funding this study.
