Aurora’s microtransit service for older adults is changing its hours to better serve customer needs.
Aurora Rides, which launched in January, provides free, on-demand rides within a defined area in Aurora.
Effective June 1, the service hours are advancing daily by one hour. The updated hours will be from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.
The city of Aurora contracted with Via, in partnership with the Regional Transportation District, for this grant-funded pilot program sponsored by Council Member Angela Lawson. The program provides older adults with transportation to local essential services or a way to connect to the greater metropolitan transit system.
To book a free ride within the designated service zone, call 720.881.0197 or download the Aurora Rides app from the app store on Apple or Android devices and follow the simple steps to sign up for an account and book a ride.
The designated service zone is generally west of Interstate 225 to the western Aurora city boundary but also includes Heather Gardens and St. Andrews Village.
The current service area map is available on the app or online at City.RideWithVia.com/Aurora, along with more information. The new service map will be posted by June 1.
