Fox Flix Film Series: “Vertigo” (PG)

Aurora Fire Rescue Station 9 Reopening Celebration

Join Aurora Fire Rescue for a ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration of the new Fire Station 9. The event is open to the public and will feature a dedication ceremony followed by tours of the firehouse, as well as opportunities to climb aboard the fire engine and meet Aurora’s firefighters.

Spring into fun this break with day camps

Spring break is right around the corner! The city of Aurora will be offering a variety of spring break camps at recreation center locations for youth ages 7 to 12. With swimming, crafts and gym games, we've got all the activities your kiddo could want during their week off from school!

When: Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

She Plays Aurora Free Sports Trial Day

As part of the “She Plays Aurora” campaign, the city of Aurora is hosting a free day for girls, ages 5 to 13, to try basketball, flag football, soccer, tennis, volleyball and more in a fun, welcoming environment led by Aurora coaches. As a bonus, registered participants will be entered to win tickets to the Denver Summit FC home opener on March 28 at Empower Field at Mile High. Spots are free, but registration is required.

“Prehistoric Aurora” Exhibit Closing Celebration

Celebrate the success of our “Prehistoric Aurora” exhibit with AHM staff, volunteers and the partners who made it possible. See the exhibit before it closes, enjoy refreshments and hear presentations from some of our favorite paleontologists and dinosaur lovers.

Lifeguard Hiring Events

Aurora Parks, Recreation and Open Space will be hosting lifeguard hiring events at indoor pools throughout March and April. Learn more about available positions, receive application assistance, have an on-site interview (and swim test – bring your swimsuit!), and even receive a conditional offer on the spot!

Fill The Bus Community Donation Drive

The Aurora Youth Commission is collecting non-perishable food items and hygiene products with the goal of filling up Parks, Recreation and Open Space’s Youth Services bus. Drop-off boxes will be available at city of Aurora recreation centers and libraries April 1 through April 9. Items will be distributed to city recreation centers, libraries and Little Flower Assistance Center.

Community Tipi Build

Join Aurora Parks, Recreation and Open Space staff and Native American community members in setting up the tipis of the 1860s replica tipi camp at Plains Conservation Center. The event will start with a smudge ceremony followed by setting up four tipis and teachings from Native members.

Holocaust Survivor Story: Adela Dagerman

In partnership with the Mizel Museum, join Adela Dagerman for a powerful and educational program exploring the Holocaust’s impact on families and communities. She will recount her journey through multiple concentration camps to liberation and inspire us with her courageous resilience and compassion. Signature Park Master Plan Public Meeting

Aurora Parks, Recreation and Open Space (PROS) is updating the master plan for Signature Park, an undeveloped community park in north-central Aurora, located at S. Airport Boulevard/S. Buckley Road and E. Alameda Parkway. Help shape the future of what this park can become during the second public meeting on April 19. Review initial concept alternatives from Dig Studio and share your feedback in-person and online.

Sprint Triathlon

Test your personal best with a morning sprint triathlon! The triathlon consists of an 800-yard swim, 12.4-mile bike ride on an indoor cycle bike and a 3.1-mile run. Participants will be timed, and winners will be announced day-of.

When: Saturday, April 25, 7 a.m. to noon

Who: Ages 18 and older

ARISE Adaptive Triathlon

In conjunction with the Spring Triathlon, this is an opportunity to compete against yourself! Develop and enhance independence, confidence and fitness with a 15-minute water walk/swim, 20-minute stationary hand/spin bike ride and 25-minute walk/run/roll. Lunch and awards will follow the triathlon. Adaptive programs are designed for individuals with disabilities.

Journey North: Monarch Community Science Project

The monarch butterfly's migration is still as mysterious as it is amazing to scientists and butterfly fans alike. This community science program runs across the country to track the monarch migration. Learn about monarch butterflies and their amazing life cycles and get trained on how to take part in this community science project at home. No experience required.

“The Local Cost of Freedom” Opening Event

Remember the sacrifice of servicemembers this Memorial Day weekend by visiting Auora History Museum’s new exhibit about Aurora veterans who lost their lives in foreign wars. Hear from museum curators and Rick Crandall, CEO of the Colorado Freedom Memorial, about the process of finding and recording their names in the Local Cost of Freedom exhibit.
