UPDATE: Arrest Made: Aurora Police Seek Public’s Help in Locating Homicide Suspect

(Aug. 3, 2025) – The Aurora Police Department announced Monday it has arrested a suspect wanted in connection with a fatal shooting at an apartment in north central Aurora.
Michel Jordan Castellano-Fonseca, 30, was arrested Monday morning by Aurora police patrol officers and booked into the Aurora Municipal Detention Center on first-degree murder charges. Additional charges are pending further investigation. Formal charges will be filed by the 18th Judicial District Attorney's Office.
The charges stem from about 3 a.m. when Castellano-Fonseca, following an earlier domestic violence incident with a family member, forced his way into an apartment in the 1000 block of Cimarron Circle and fired several shots. Inside the apartment were three adults and five children, ages 1-15.
A 26-year-old woman sustained fatal wounds and died at the scene. A second victim, a 30-year-old woman, was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. None of the children were injured during the shooting, nor was the third adult, a 20-year-old man.
The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867). Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.

Aurora Police Seek Public’s Help in Locating Homicide Suspect
(Aug. 3, 2025) – The Aurora Police Department is seeking the public’s help with information about a suspect involved in a homicide early Sunday morning at an apartment complex in north central Aurora.
The suspect, 30-year-old Michel Jordan Castellano-Fonseca, is wanted in connection with a fatal shooting at an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Cimarron Circle. The preliminary investigation by APD’s Major Crime Homicide Unit suggests the shooting stemmed from a possible domestic violence incident, after which Castellano-Fonseca threatened to return to the apartment complex with a firearm.
The shooting occurred shortly after 3 a.m., when Castellano-Fonseca forced his way into the apartment and fired several shots. Inside the apartment were two adults and five children, ages 1 to 15.
One of the victims, a 26-year-old woman, sustained fatal wounds and died at the scene. A second victim, a 30-year-old woman, was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. None of the children were injured during the shooting.
Castellano-Fonseca sped away from the scene in a green Acura MDX SUV with a Colorado license plate of CVO668. Fonseca is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with any information about his whereabouts or any information about the vehicle is asked to call 911 immediately or call the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867). Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
