A Library Card will give you access to all physical items in the library in addition to all of our eResources (including eBooks, eAudiobooks, streaming movies, music, and more). Check out our Lending Policy Frequently Asked Questions page for more information on borrowing items.
Where Do I Get a Library Card?
You can visit the circulation desk at any Aurora Public Library locations, or use our Self-Registration application at home to save time!
What Documents Do I Need to Bring to Get a Card?
Adults (ages 18 and over) must provide proof of Colorado residency and valid photo identification; if your photo identification has your current Colorado address on it, this will count as proof of residency. Some examples of proof of residency include:
-
Bill (e.g. phone, utility) with your name and Colorado address on it
-
Physical Mail
-
Online Order Confirmation
-
Receipt with your name and Colorado address on it
-
Physical or Online Lease Agreement
-
Payroll check stub with your name and Colorado address on it.
-
Personal checks printed with your name and Colorado address
The Aurora Public Library is a participant in Colorado Libraries Collaborate. If you do not live in the city of Aurora, an Aurora Library card can still be issued to you. Just provide one of the above documents showing a valid Colorado address and valid photo identification.
How Does Self-Registration Work?
When you visit our Self-Registration link, you'll fill out the library card application online, and you'll be issued a library card number. You'll have access to all of our eResources, including eBooks, eAudiobooks, and movies, as well as multiple research databases.
You can also visit your local branch library and pick up your physical library card; just bring your Photo ID with you! If the address on your ID is different from your current address, be sure to bring along proof of address as well (i.e. utility bill, mail, online order confirmation, etc...). Once you have your permanent library card in hand, you'll be able to borrow books, DVDs, magazines, and more!
Does It Cost Anything to Get a Card?
No. Cards and the use of the library are free. Fees apply to lost or damaged materials.
Can Kids Get Library Cards?
Yes. Children (under age 18) may receive a card when accompanied by a parent or guardian who meets the above criteria (listed under “What Documents Do I Need to Bring to Get a Card?). Please keep in mind that the parent or legal guardian is financially responsible for all lost or damaged items.
What If I Lose My Card?
If your card is lost or stolen, or if your address changes, you MUST notify the library immediately by calling 303.739.6600. There is no charge for getting a replacement card.
