Aurora Urban Renewal Authority
The city created the Aurora Urban Renewal Authority in 1981, which currently administers and implements the city's 21 urban renewal area plans that the Aurora City Council approved. Find meeting notices and minutes posted on the Council Meetings web page.
Aurora Downtown Development Authority
In the November 2025 election, voters within a specified boundary area approved the formation of an Aurora Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and to allow the authority to use tax increment financing under Colorado's Taxpayer Bill of Rights. The new DDA will play a key role in implementing the Colfax Community Vision & Action Plan, advancing projects, programs and investments that support the East Colfax corridor's revitalization.
Later this year, the City Council will consider formally approving the plan at their regular meeting and start the 30-year Tax Increment Financing (TIF) period. Additional information on the DDA will be available soon.
Aurora Housing Authority
The Aurora Housing Authority develops and promotes quality housing while supporting and encouraging economic opportunities leading to self-sufficiency and independence; and ensures the availability of affordable, decent and safe housing for current and future residents of the city.
