Local Filipino community selected for 2026 Mosaic of Cultures exhibition at the Aurora History Museum

The Aurora History Museum is proud to announce the selection of the Filipino American Community of Colorado, or FACC, for the 2026 Mosaic of Cultures Exhibition focused on the Aurora Filipino community. This community was the first one chosen by a recently created community-based selection committee.
This Filipino community exhibition will be part of the Mosaic of Cultures series, which promotes understanding of Aurora’s culturally diverse populations while incorporating the voices of those local communities into the city’s history. In the past, Mosaic of Cultures highlighted Aurora’s Ethiopian, Salvadoran, Mexican and Nepali communities.
For the creation of the new exhibition, in collaboration with FACC, the Aurora History Museum will conduct extensive community outreach to capture the perspective of the Filipino people in Aurora and receive crucial feedback on how they want to be represented in this exhibit.
“Our team looks forward to collaborating with the Filipino American Community of Colorado on an exhibition that illuminates the community’s role in enriching our city, fostering understanding and shaping our shared history,” said T. Scott Williams, director of the Aurora History Museum. “Due to the increased popularity of this exhibit series, we created a selection committee including community members and representatives from the city’s Office of International and Immigrant Affairs and Aurora Sister Cities International to make the selection process transparent and equitable for anyone in Aurora to submit a proposal.”
The Filipino community in Aurora represents a rich tapestry of traditions, customs and cultural practices. The exhibition will allow residents and visitors to learn about and appreciate the diverse cultural heritage of their Filipino neighbors. The exhibition will run from April 21, 2026, to April 18, 2027. The city of Aurora Office of International and Immigrant Affairs has been a key partner in the development of the Mosaic of Cultures exhibition series.
