Boards & Commissions

The city of Aurora has 28 boards, commissions, committees and/or authorities composed of resident volunteers who have been appointed by the Aurora City Council. Boards and Commissions meetings are open to the public and have the possibility of a potential quorum of council members.

As part of changes initially approved by the city council at introduction on Monday, Sept. 22, Aurora is preparing to launch two new advisory boards - the Arts and Culture Commission and the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Advisory Board. While these boards are not scheduled to become active until Jan. 1, 2026, pending final council approval later this year, the city is beginning the recruitment process this fall. Each board will have up to 15 members, whose appointments will also be subject to council approval before the end of the year.
