Real Time Information Center

In 2025, the Aurora Police Department activated a Real Time Information Center, which provides us with real-time access to data and information through city-owned cameras, automated license plate readers and our drones as first responders program. The Real Time Information Center has proven to be a force multiplier in how our officers respond to in-progress emergencies and how detectives investigate crimes to prevent victimization in the city.

Officers assigned to the Real Time Information Center provide critical overwatch to ensure officer, community and suspect safety, they gather vital evidence in real-time and through historical data analysis, and they can even clear calls without an officer response, freeing up resources to respond to in-progress emergencies, providing our community with the peace of mind that we will be there to help them in their times of need.

Since it began operations in March, officers assigned to the Real Time Information Center have assisted with evidence collection in 1,218 cases, helped with the recovery of 246 stolen vehicles and played a significant role in holding 322 offenders accountable for their crimes.

The purpose of the RTIC is simple. It helps us protect our community, solve crimes more quickly, support our officers and investigators, and build trust with the people we serve. It is one more step toward making Aurora a safer place for everyone.
