UPDATE: 2nd Arrest Made - Aurora Major Crime Unit Arrests Man in Beating Death of 4-Year-Old

(May 22, 2026) – The Colorado Springs Police Department arrested an Aurora woman on Thursday, after a continued investigation into the death of a 4-year-old boy in Aurora on Saturday.
Destini Rose Lipsky, 23, was booked into the El Paso County Jail on a Child Abuse Resulting in Death charge. Destini is the victim’s mother.
The arrest stems from about 10 p.m. Saturday, when Aurora patrol officers responded to an apartment in the 14100 block of East Tennessee Avenue for a report of a young child who was unconscious and not breathing. When officers arrived at the scene, Aurora Fire Rescue paramedics were performing life-saving actions on the boy.
Responding officers observed the boy had significant injuries. The boy was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
During the on-scene investigation, interviews were conducted and evidence was collected. The child’s caretaker at the time, Alexander Martinez-Armstrong, 24, acknowledged striking the boy repeatedly before his death, leading to Alexander’s arrest on Saturday.
After additional interviews and evidence examinations, it led to the issuance of an arrest warrant for the boy’s mother, Destini, on Thursday.
Destini is being held at the El Paso County Jail on $500,000 bond, pending her transfer to Arapahoe County. The cause and manner of death will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.

(May 17, 2026) – The Aurora Police Department Major Crime Homicide Unit arrested Saturday an Aurora man while investigating the death of a 4-year-old boy.
Alexander Martinez-Armstrong, 24, was booked into the Aurora Municipal Detention Center on a first-degree murder charge. Martinez-Armstrong is not the victim’s father.
The arrest stems from about 10 p.m. Saturday, when Aurora patrol officers responded to an apartment in the 14100 block of East Tennessee Avenue for a report of a young child who was unconscious and not breathing.
