(May 17, 2026) – The Aurora Police Department Major Crime Homicide Unit arrested Saturday an Aurora man while investigating the death of a 4-year-old boy.
Alexander Martinez-Armstrong, 24, was booked into the Aurora Municipal Detention Center on a first-degree murder charge. Martinez-Armstrong is not the victim’s father.
The arrest stems from about 10 p.m. Saturday, when Aurora patrol officers responded to an apartment in the 14100 block of East Tennessee Avenue for a report of a young child who was unconscious and not breathing. When officers arrived at the scene, Aurora Fire Rescue paramedics were performing life-saving actions on the boy.
Responding officers observed the boy had significant injuries. The boy was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
During the on-scene investigation, interviews were conducted and evidence was collected leading to Martinez-Armstrong’s arrest. Martinez-Armstrong acknowledged striking the boy.
Martinez-Armstrong has since been transferred to the Arapahoe County Jail pending his first appearance in court. The cause and manner of death will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.
The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867). Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
