UPDATE: Arrest Made: Aurora Police Major Crime Detectives Investigating Fatal Shooting of Teen

(June 5, 2025) – The Aurora Police Department Major Crime Homicide Unit announced Thursday it has made an arrest in its investigation into a fatal shooting of a 15-year-old girl that occurred Sunday in the 12600 block of East Hoffman Boulevard.
The suspect, a 14-year-old boy from Colorado Springs, was arrested late Wednesday afternoon on charges of first-degree homicide, 10 counts of attempted first-degree homicide and two counts of possession of a handgun by a juvenile. The suspect, who is not being identified because he is a minor, was in custody in the El Paso County Jail as of Thursday morning.
The suspect will ultimately be transferred to the Arapahoe County Jail to face charges in Arapahoe Juvenile Court. Formal charges will be filed by the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
During the investigation, homicide detectives received several tips from the community directing them to the suspect in Colorado Springs. Detectives also learned the Colorado Springs Police Department recently submitted an arrest warrant for the suspect for motor vehicle theft.
Colorado Springs and Aurora police investigators partnered on the investigation. On Wednesday morning, the Colorado Springs Police Department Strategic Investigations Unit served its motor vehicle theft warrant and arrested the suspect.
A search of the suspect’s Colorado Springs home resulted in the recovery of two firearms, 9mm and .380-caliber handguns. The firearms were provided to the Aurora Police Department for ballistics testing in its homicide investigation.
Homicide detectives conducted interviews in Colorado Springs, which resulted in the suspect’s arrest on homicide charges Wednesday afternoon.
“The swift arrest of the suspect in this case serves as an excellent example of what can be accomplished when law enforcement and our community work together,” said Mark Hildebrand, chief of the Aurora Police Department’s Investigations Division. “We would not have made an arrest this quickly without the public’s help and our strong working relationship with the Colorado Springs Police Department.”
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867). Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
