You must be age 16 or older to possess or use fireworks, unless supervised by someone age 21 or older.
• The city’s fire chief has the right to ban the sale, use, possession or discharge of fireworks as conditions dictate.

Fireworks in Colorado’s semi-arid to very-arid climate

Our city is situated in a dry part of the country and the use of recreational fires, grills, fire pits, and even fireworks come with fire risks. On a regular basis, Aurora Fire Rescue takes a close look at short and long range weather forecasts, fuel moistures, local & regional fire activity, and national preparedness levels. This evaluation could be followed by a ban on fireworks and other open flames. Conditions will continue to be monitored for the upcoming 4th of July holiday. The sale and use of fireworks will be dependent on these conditions.

For more information about fire activities that are permissible by city code, please visit our Burning Restrictions page.

Happy Independence Day. Please be safe!
