Aurora Fire Rescue, in collaboration with the Sable Altura Fire District, successfully contained a brush fire this evening, August 22. The fire was reported through an eyewitness call into Aurora 911 dispatch at 7:36 p.m. and was extinguished by 8:58 p.m.

Estimated to damage approximately 1-2 acres of unincorporated Adams County land situated west of E-470 and south of 56th Avenue, the fire predominantly occupied a ravine off the highway. The blaze was brought under control swiftly due to the fire teams’ quick response and coordinated efforts.

No injuries or property damages were reported as a result of this incident. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

As temperatures continue to rise and dry and windy conditions persist, brush fires pose a significant risk. The community can assist in preventing wildfires by avoiding sources of potential ignition, such as open flames and cigarettes, observing fire restrictions and fire bans, and calling or texting 911 if there is an emergency, such as a fire, or if you see smoke.
