Homelessness in Aurora

Resources for service organizations are at the bottom of this page.

Everyone deserves a safe, warm place to sleep. The city of Aurora is committed to preventing and ending homelessness by connecting those without shelter to resources, support, and services to help them regain stability and improve their well-being. While health and human services typically fall to county governments (Aurora sits in three counties), the Aurora City Council has designated significant resources to support programs and partnerships with communities and nonprofits to assist those experiencing homelessness and those at risk of homelessness.

Homeless Assistance

The city is not a direct service provider, but it funds community agencies that provide direct services to individuals experiencing homelessness.

Aurora Regional Navigation Campus

The city is working on establishing a regional navigation campus to support those experiencing homelessness and provide homeless prevention services. Learn more about this project at EngageAurora.org/NavigationCampus

Aurora Outreach Team

The Aurora Outreach Team is a dedicated support unit, not an enforcement entity. Their mission is to engage with individuals who are camping or living in vehicles or RVs, connecting them with vital community services. Comprised of trained professionals with extensive experience in homelessness outreach, the team provides direct assistance through daily engagement efforts. New clients are enrolled exclusively during these outreach activities. Individuals already receiving services should contact their case manager directly. Due to high call volumes, the team is unable to accept external referrals at this time. For additional resources, visit the Aurora Day Resource Center, 13387 E. 19th Place, for referrals and support.

County Human Services

Counties, as the lead health and human services agencies at the local level, also assist those experiencing homelessness. Follow the links to learn more about the programs available by county.

Built for Zero Initiative

The city of Aurora is one of nine sub-region partners in the Metro Denver Homeless Initiative participating in Built for Zero, an initiative led by Community Solutions to help reduce homelessness among veterans in the city.
