The Library and Cultural Services Department is composed of two divisions, the Aurora Public Library (Library Services) with seven branches, and Cultural Services --including the Aurora Art in Public Places Program, Aurora History Museum and Historic Sites, Aurora Fox Arts Center, Aurora Dance Arts, Arts Education and Bicentennial Art Center, The People's Building--, and is in charge of providing city residents with access to arts, culture, education and entertainment in many forms.
The Library and Cultural Services department began with the founding of the Aurora Public Library in 1929. Since that time, the department has grown to include arts and history.
The Library & Cultural Services Department fosters lifelong learning and cultural enrichment through literacy, creativity, arts, and history for the benefit of Aurora residents and beyond.
