DDA Board Selection Process
In January 2026, the city began accepting applications for the inaugural Board of Directors, which will help guide investments and priorities for the downtown area and ensure community voices are represented.

What’s Next
The interview process is now complete. Twelve candidates will be invited to interview in late April and early May. Interviews were open to the public.
Applicants are being evaluated based on:
• Commitment to board responsibilities, core duties, and legal requirements
• Familiarity and community ties
• Unique skills and experience
• Dedication to collaborative work
• Vision Alignment with the Colfax Community Vision and Action Plan

Public Interviews and Appointment Process
Public interviews occurred April 29 and May 5 at the Aurora Municipal Center (15151 E. Alameda Parkway) and were recorded (see below). View the candidates who were interviewed and the schedule. Community members were encouraged to attend or watch the recordings of the interviews and provide comments following the interviews to [email protected].
Recordings of interviews were posted online Wednesday, May 6. The community is invited to provide feedback on candidates, and the deadline has been extended. If you would like to provide feedback, please complete this form by 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 26. Feedback also may be emailed to [email protected].
The Aurora City Council is expected to appoint the inaugural seven-member DDA Board, including one council member, in June 2026.
The following is a schedule of the key dates for the appointment process:
- Wednesday, May 6 - DDA board interview recordings posted on website
- Wednesday, May 6, to Tuesday, May 26 (extended) - Community feedback period
- Monday, June 8 - DDA board appointments (Council Study Session)
- Monday, June 22 - DDA board appointments (Regular Council Meeting - First Reading)
