Aurora Internet Crimes Unit Makes Arrest in Child Sex Assault, Child Exploitation Case
(March 2, 2026) – The Aurora Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children Unit announced it has arrested an Aurora man on charges of child sexual assault and sexual exploitation.
Last Sunday, Feb. 22, Vicente Ashly Olvera, 41, turned himself in to law enforcement on an outstanding Aurora Police Department warrant on charges of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and sexual exploitation of a child. The warrant stemmed from December 2023 through January 2024 when the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit received multiple cyber tips stating Olvera’s cellphone account was downloading Child Sexual Abuse Material.
During the early phase of the investigation, the Aurora police Crimes Against Children Unit received two reports stating Olvera had also sexually assaulted two individuals in the past. The victims were both minors at the time of the incidents.
Last August, Crimes Against Children and Internet Crimes Against Children detectives executed a search warrant at Olvera’s Aurora residence and seized several items, including electronic devices. Numerous files of Child Sexual Abuse Material were later found on Olvera’s devices.
The case is charged in Arapahoe District Court. Olvera is free on $75,000 bond.
The Aurora Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children Unit is partnered with Homeland Security Investigations, the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation as part of the Colorado Cyber Guardian Task Force. The Colorado Cyber Guardian Task Force comprises local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in the Denver-Metro area focusing on child exploitation and child sex trafficking investigations.
