Aurora Water's Car Wash Certification Program recognizes businesses that demonstrate a commitment to water-efficient operations and responsible water management.
Car washes are among the most water-efficient methods of vehicle cleaning, and certified facilities play an important role in helping Aurora conserve water resources while continuing to provide valuable services to the community.
Why Become Certified?
Maintain Operations During Water Shortages
- Certified car washes may continue operating during Stage 2 Water Shortage restrictions.
- Non-certified facilities are prohibited from operating during Stage 2 restrictions.
During a Stage 3 Water Shortage, all car wash operations (certified or not) must cease until restrictions are lifted.
Be Recognized as a Water Efficiency Partner
Certified facilities will be featured on the city of Aurora website as Water Efficiency Partners, demonstrating their commitment to responsible water use.

Simple Online Application Process
Applications are submitted through an online form in the Water Customer Portal, providing a streamlined and efficient experience for participants. The portal allows businesses to:
- Submit and track certification applications
- Maintain historical records
- Pay water bills
- Access to water consumption data
Applications, inspections (when applicable), approvals, and ongoing program compliance are managed by Aurora Water Conservation staff.
To apply, log in to the Water Customer Portal. From the left-hand menu, select Forms under the Services tab, then choose the Aurora Water Car Wash Certification Application form to begin the application process.
