PGA head professional at Meadow Hills Golf Course qualifies for U.S. Senior Open

Congratulations to Caine Fitzgerald - PGA head professional with Aurora Golf at Meadow Hills - on qualifying for the 2026 U.S. Senior Open.

Fitzgerald played a solid round of golf in final qualifying at the Country Club of Colorado in Colorado Springs carding a 69, 2-under par round to earn medalist honors on June 3, 2026.

“I have played it numerous times over the years and my kids have played several events there,” Fitzgerald said of the Country Club of Colorado. “Requires a ton of patience and good putting. Two things that have never been my forte!

“Incredible experience with Jeff Carter on the bag, he added. “Had a plan on how to approach the day, course and didn't have to deviate too much along the way.

Fitzgerald, who played in the 2013 PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y., will add another first to his golf career – teeing it up in a USGA Championship event.

“It is my first USGA event. Incredibly surreal feeling. Different feeling from PGA,” Fitzgerald said. “Older, slower with life priorities in a different place. Thrilled to have the opportunity to compete with better perspective on how special this is.”

The U.S. Senior Open takes place July 2-5 at Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio.

Give him the old Arnold Palmer thumbs up next time you see him out at Meadow.
