(May 14, 2026) – Multiple Aurora Police Department units were involved in an operation Wednesday afternoon that resulted in the arrest of a juvenile male suspect wanted in connection with a tire slashing incident earlier this week at a southeast Aurora school.

About 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, Aurora patrol officers responded to an apartment complex in the 23400 block of East Easter Drive, after investigators developed information a suspect involved in multiple incidents the day prior at Cherokee Trail High School and the surrounding area was inside a residence.

During the call, the suspect threw several improvised incendiary devices at officers, prompting a response from Aurora Fire Rescue and Aurora’s SWAT Team. No officers were injured and no fires were ignited.

About 4:45 p.m., the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported to any public safety personnel, nor the suspect.

The suspect, who is not being identified because he is a minor, was arrested on charges of attempted first-degree assault, possession of incendiary devices, obstructing a peace officer and menacing.

The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867). Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
