A proposed design for the Peoria Street Bridge Replacement Project is now available for review and input online through May 11.
The city plans to replace the aging Peoria Street bridge over Sand Creek to enhance safety and improve mobility. The bridge will be widened to add vehicle travel lanes, sidewalks and a shared-use path, supporting more efficient and accessible travel for all modes.
Community members are invited to review the proposed project design for Peoria Street between 25th and 30th avenues and complete the feedback form at EngageAurora.org/PeoriaBridge.
The project design proposes making improvements at the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard/Fitzsimons Parkway intersection and adding another travel lane in each direction to match the rest of Peoria Street. The proposed design also adds a wide sidewalk and a shared-use path along Peoria Street and builds a new connection to the Sand Creek Greenway trail.
The Peoria Street Bridge Replacement Project will not move forward to construction until design is complete and funding is secured.
This project is planning for the replacement of critical infrastructure that aligns with the city’s well-managed and healthy community strategic outcomes.
