Aurora Major Crime Unit Seek Community’s Help with February Homicide

(March 18, 2026) – The Aurora Police Department Major Crime Homicide Unit is seeking the community’s help with information about a homicide that occurred last month in west Aurora.

About 11 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, Aurora patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting near the intersection of Lima Street and East Highline Drive. When officers arrived, they located Xavier Dominguez, 15, of Aurora, suffering from gunshot wounds. Xavier later died from his injuries at a local hospital.

The suspect in the shooting has not yet been identified. Investigators believe he fled the area on foot or possibly on a bicycle.

Detectives are asking residents in the neighborhood to review their doorbell camera and other home security video for anything suspicious from the night of the homicide. Investigators are particularly interested in obtaining video from Lima Street between East Highline Drive and East 1st Avenue, as well as any video pointed in the direction of the High Line Canal Trail.

The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867). Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
