
(Oct. 30, 2025) – The Aurora Police Department Gun Violence Suppression Team is seeking the public’s help with information about a suspect wanted in connection with a nonfatal shooting that occurred in July in northwest Aurora.
Douglas Andrew Read, 39, of Aurora, is wanted on an active warrant out of Adams District Court for one charge of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon. The warrant stems from about 1:15 a.m. July 31, when Aurora police patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment in the 3100 block of Peoria Street.
The victim, a 39-year-old Aurora man, sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound during the shooting. Gun Violence Suppression Team investigators identified two suspects in the case.
Anthony James Neal, 48, of Aurora, was arrested Oct. 2 by members of the Aurora Police Department Fugitive Apprehension & Narcotics Unit. He faces one count of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon in Adams District Court and is in custody on $30,000 bond.
Read remains outstanding and all leads generated to date have been exhausted. Detectives are asking anyone who has information about Read or his location to contact Aurora police through Metro Denver Crime Stoppers or by calling 911. Read is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached my members of the community.
The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867). Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
