The city of Aurora played host to two breast cancer awareness tournaments in 2025.

Suddenly Pink Foundation held their annual Rockin’ Pink Tournament at Saddle Rock Golf Course on July 28.

Their mission is to help anyone diagnosed with cancer that has heard those four lifechanging words, “You Have Breast Cancer.”

Statement from Suddenly Pink founder Barb Finnin:
“It is exciting for me to see our community come together for this event each year. We sell out in the first week of advertising. To see everyone dress up in their fun pink outfits and decorate their golf carts is so uplifting and heartwarming. Saddle Rock Golf Course is a huge part of the excitement and success of the tournament. Everyone loves playing there and they go all out to help us promote the Suddenly Pink Foundation and breast cancer by painting the large breast cancer ribbon on hole No. 4, the inserts in the cups and pin flags with the breast cancer ribbon on it. With the support from Saddle Rock Golf Course and our October fundraiser, we have been able to help over 100 families with a loved one going through breast cancer treatment —  keep their homes, make car payments, buy food, get childcare, rides to treatment and help with many other needs that they have. We are based out of Aurora and are 100% volunteer. We can’t thank our community donors, players, Saddle Rock Golf Course, volunteers, and our sponsors enough!”

Finnin became “suddenly pink” after being diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2015. Here’s her full story.

Play for P.I.N.K. was next up on the tee and spent Aug. 5 at Aurora Hills Golf Course for their charity event. All proceeds from their tournament support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

This grassroots organization is known for raising funds to fight cancer through sports and lifestyle events held around the country each year.

Since being founded in 1990, Play for P.I.N.K has raised over $85 million for breast cancer research.
