UPDATE: Arrest Made: Aurora Police Seek Public’s Help with Assault Suspect Information

(Jan. 29, 2026) – The Aurora Police Department Sex Crimes Unit announced Thursday it has made an arrest in its investigation into a violent assault in May 2025 at a west Aurora park.
Jack Khaidav, 21, of Aurora, was arrested Tuesday night on charges of sexual assault. He is in custody without bond at the Arapahoe County Jail, pending his first appearance in court.
Khaidav was arrested after Sex Crimes detectives received a community tip through Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.
“Technology and community collaboration made the difference in this case,” said Lt. Seth Robertson, who leads the Aurora Police Department’s Special Victims Section. “Without third-party security video, this suspect may have gone undetected. Information from the community allowed investigators to identify the suspect and make Tuesday night’s arrest.”
About 6:30 a.m. Thursday, May 8, Aurora police patrol officers responded to Expo Park, 10955 E. Exposition Ave., for a report of a serious assault. Once on scene, officers spoke with a woman who said she was walking on the High Line Canal Trail when she was attacked from behind by an unknown man. The woman fought off her attacker and warned other women in the area about the suspect.
Sex Crimes Unit detectives, with the help of Aurora Police Area Representatives, immediately began investigating the crime, ultimately locating security camera footage of the suspect during an area canvas. A recently received community tip named Khaidav as the possible suspect in the video.
“Cases like this require patience, precision and an unwavering commitment to victims,” said Investigations Bureau Cmdr. Marc Paolino. “The dedicated men and women of the Sex Crimes Unit never quit. They remain focused on holding suspects accountable while pursuing justice for victims.”
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with any information about the suspect is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867). Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
