Volunteering with APD

Some dream it. Others talk about it. Aurora Police Department volunteers make it happen!

Since its inception, the Aurora Police Department has prioritized building strong partnerships within the community. This mission has been made possible largely through our dedicated volunteers, who collectively contribute an average of 32,000 hours each year, offering their time, energy, and expertise to support and strengthen our city.

Volunteers serve in many divisions of the APD, performing a wide range of tasks that support our daily operations. Training requirements vary by role to ensure each volunteer is prepared and empowered to contribute effectively.

What can I do as a volunteer?

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering is a powerful way to give back to your community and support your local police department. Your experience and skills can make a real difference in public service. It’s also a chance to grow - take on new challenges, expand your knowledge of the criminal justice system, learn new skills, and connect with others. Stay active, stay involved, and help shape the quality of service in your community.

How to Get Started as a Volunteer

Interested in volunteering with the Aurora Police Department? We're excited to have you learn more! To get started, you must be at least 18 years old and able to pass a background check. Volunteers are also expected to follow department policies.

If you're ready to make a meaningful impact, simply complete the volunteer application and background consent form, and send them to our Volunteer Coordinator, Verlean Coman at [email protected].
