Office of Purchasing Services

The Office of Purchasing Services is a division of the Finance Department, which is responsible for acquiring goods, services and construction contracts for the city of Aurora.

These services are typically managed through a structured procurement process to ensure and secure the greatest value for the city, considering cost, quality, delivery, service and other considerations that reflect overall value comparisons. All purchasing and contracting shall be accomplished in the best interest of the city.

CITY OF AURORA’S 2026 CONTRACTOR EDUCATION AND NETWORKING SUMMIT

The city of Aurora invites contractors, consultants and suppliers interested in bidding on city contracts to the 2026 Contractor Education and Networking Summit.

• Date: Thursday, Oct. 22

• Time: 9 a.m. to noon

• Location: Hyatt Regency Aurora Denver Conference Center, 13200 E. 14th Place

The event, designed specifically for businesses seeking to learn how to do business with the city through procurement and contracting opportunities, will include educational presentations from several city of Aurora divisions, including Purchasing, Risk Management, the Building Division/Permitting and Tax and Licensing, with a special feature on upcoming contracting opportunities. Additionally, various city departments will host informational tables to talk with attendees and share additional upcoming opportunities.

Representatives from Colorado APEX Accelerators, the Center for Community Wealth and the Aurora-South Metro Small Business Development Center will also be available to provide support and resources for businesses pursuing government contracts.

2025 Business Opportunity Fair

The City of Aurora 2025 Business Opportunity Fair drew a record 300 attendees, doubling last year's turnout. Thanks to all the businesses that participated and helped make this event a success!

Small Business Development Center

Do you want to grow your existing business or have questions as an aspiring entrepreneur? The Aurora-South Metro Small Business Development Center (SBDC) can help. The SBDC offers free and confidential virtual consulting by appointment, free and low-cost training, and can connect you with a variety of small business resources and appropriate current funding options. Serving Arapahoe and Douglas Counties 

The Aurora-South Metro SBDC is part of the Colorado SBDC Network, a nationally accredited program, and has a mission to help existing and new small businesses grow and prosper. The city of Aurora is host to the SBDC and serves small businesses not only in Aurora, but throughout Arapahoe, Douglas and south Jefferson counties.

The city of Aurora’s Small Business Enterprise (SBE) Program demonstrates the city’s commitment to the SBE community by promoting economic growth within the local business community and providing a development program to assist SBEs regardless of gender, age, race or ethnicity.
