Connecting Aurora

Connecting Aurora, the city's first citywide multimodal transportation master plan, was adopted in June 2026 by the Aurora City Council.

It will serve as a bold, community-driving roadmap to create safe, connected and sustainable multimodal options for everyone, no matter how they travel. The plan reflects the voices and perspectives of our community, who articulated aspirations for the city's transportation system through extensive conversations, surveys and workshops.

Our vision: Aurora safety connects all people to our places for a healthy, sustainable and economically strong community

Our mission: The city of Aurora will provide a complete transportation system to meet the needs of all people. The city will engage the public in the delivery of plans, programs, policies, standards and projects.

Our goals:

  • A transportation system serving people: Safe, Connected, Reliable, Convenient
  • A transportation system supporting overall city aspirations: Sustainable, Economically Strong, Healthy
  • A transportation system strengthening community: Authentic, Equitable, Integrated

The Aurora City Council approved the master plan for adoption at their June 8, 2026, regular council meeting. The plan documents are linked below in full as well as broken out in chapters.

Throughout the two-year planning process for this master plan, residents, businesses, community stakeholders and city decision-makers were invited to share their concerns about today's transportation system and their priorities for the future of mobility in Aurora.
