COMMUNITY EDUCATION

Animal Protection OfficersAnimal Protection Officers

The Aurora Animal Shelter is available for educational opportunities. Our learning programs focus on care, compassion and safety of pets along with the role of the shelter in the community. Our Animal Protection Officers and other staff members are available to provide educational presentations to classrooms of any age, homeowners associations and other civic groups. Our educational services are free and available to the Aurora community.

Prefer coming to the shelter instead? We can easily arrange presentations at the shelter for groups under 20 people. Unfortunately, there are no hands-on interactions with the shelter animals. To request a guest speaker or to get more information regarding our education lessons, please contact our Community Outreach Coordinator at 303.326.8390 or at AnimalVolunteer@auroragov.org.

TOUR GROUPS

Want to bring your classroom or scouting group to the shelter? The Aurora Animal Shelter offers tours of its facilities along with an educational presentation. The shelter can accommodate a group of up to 20 children. Please be aware that we cannot guarantee an opportunity to directly interact with an animal. For more information please contact our Community Outreach Coordinator at 303.326.8390 or at AnimalVolunteer@auroragov.org.

EMERGENCY PLANNING

It is important to educate yourself about how to plan for your pets in case of an emergency. The Plan for Pets Brochure is a useful tool in helping to keep you and your pets safe in the event of an emergency. (Disponible en español)
