Gun Club Road

The 9-mile stretch of Gun Club Road from Aurora Parkway at the south to Sixth Avenue at the north is a roadway that touches multiple jurisdictions: the Colorado Department of Transportation, Arapahoe County and the city of Aurora. Several improvement projects have occurred or are under way on Gun Club Road, which are outlined below. The capital cost to make improvements along the entire stretch of road is currently $168 million.

Gun Club Road (Quincy Avenue to Aurora Parkway) Multimodal and Safety Improvements

The city is leading a grant-funded design project to design a four-lane section of Gun Club Road, which includes traffic signal upgrades, multimodal and safety improvements.

SH30/Gun Club/Sixth Avenue (Airport to Yale) Multimodal and Safety Improvements

The city is leading a planning study to design and construct a four-lane section of SH30/Gun Club/Sixth Avenue with sidewalks, including traffic signal upgrades and safety improvements. Early action improvements at the Picadilly Road, Gun Club Road and Jewell Avenue intersections can be completed for $30 million in construction costs once funding is identified.

Quincy Avenue/Gun Club Road Intersection Improvements

Arapahoe County, in partnership with the city of Aurora, completed the partial continuous flow intersection at Quincy Avenue and Gun Club Road in 2021.

Gun Club Road/Alameda Avenue Corridor Study

Arapahoe County, in partnership with the city of Aurora, conducted a conceptual design process to address capacity and safety on Gun Club Road and Alameda Avenue.

CO 30/Gun Club Road Widening at Hampden

The Colorado Department of Transportation completed a project several years ago to install a right turn lane from southbound Gun Club Road onto westbound Hampden Avenue, and made minor improvements to the signals and the drainage infrastructure of the field next to the intersection.
