The Aurora City Council is in the process of filling an at-large seat that is vacant following the resignation of At-large Council Member Dustin Zvonek. The appointed candidate will complete the remainder of the term, which ends the first council meeting in December 2025.
At its Nov. 18 meeting, council members selected three finalists to move forward to interviews: Amsalu Kassaw, Danielle Lammon and Jonathan McMillan. (The finalists' applications can be seen in the Dec. 2 Study Session packet.) The interviews will take place during the council's Study Session at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2. The interviews can be viewed on Comcast Cable Channel 8/880, at AuroraTV.org or on the AuroraTV streaming app.
The public is invited to attend a meet and greet at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, with the finalists in the Lobby of the Aurora Municipal Center, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway. You can talk with the applicants and provide your feedback to the City Council.
The City Council will appoint the new council member during the Dec. 16 council meeting.
Applicants must be a registered elector of the city of Aurora, a U.S. citizen, at least 21 years old on the date of appointment, an Aurora resident for at least one year prior to the date of appointment, not employed by the city of Aurora, and not holding any other elective office.

During the November 2025 Regular Municipal Election, registered electors will vote into office a new at-large council member to complete the next full term.
