(March 2, 2023) - The Aurora Police Department Traffic Investigations Unit is investigating a fatal crash that occurred late Wednesday, March 1 in District 1.
Officers responded to the crash at 11:18 p.m. at the intersection of East Montview Boulevard and North Florence Street. The subsequent investigation revealed a Jeep Wrangler was traveling west on Montview while a Subaru Forester was traveling north on Florence. The Forester attempted a left turn in front of the Wrangler and a crash occurred in the intersection.
The driver of the Forester was taken to a local hospital where they later died of their injuries. The driver of the Jeep wasn’t injured and remained at the scene. The identification of the driver of the Forester, as well as the official cause and manner of death, will be released by the Adams County Coroner's Office.
Both directions of Montview Boulevard were closed for more than three hours for the investigation. The roadway was reopened at 2:34 a.m. Thursday.
This is the 6th traffic-related fatality this year in Aurora.
