Public Invited to be Heard

The Aurora City Council welcomes public comment during regular council meetings regarding items not appearing on the agenda. Each speaker is allotted a maximum of three minutes to speak on an item.

How is speaker order determined?
Speaker order is based on when the request to speak is received. Speakers who register online will be first to address the City Council.

How do I sign up to speak?

  1. Register online in advance - Online registration begins at 8 a.m. on the Friday before the next scheduled regular council meeting and ends at noon on the day of the meeting.

  2. Submit a speaker slip at the council meeting - The Aurora Municipal Center opens at 6 p.m. on the day of the council meeting. Individuals wishing to comment on non-agenda items must submit a speaker slip to the city clerk by 6:30 p.m., unless the individual has registered online in advance.

  3. Use the public call-in line - Call the live public comment line at 855.695.3475 and press *3 to reach the operator. The public call-in line opens at 6 p.m. on the day of the council meeting. Individuals calling to comment during 'Public Invited to be Heard' must call and be in the queue by 6:30 p.m., even if the individual has registered online in advance.

Will everyone who signs up get to speak?
There is one hour for public comment on non-agenda items before every regular council meeting, and each speaker is allotted a maximum of three minutes to speak. Council will accommodate as many speakers as time permits.

Where do the regular council meetings take place?
Council meetings take place in the Paul Tauer Aurora City Council Chamber located in the Aurora Municipal Center, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway. Enter the building through the east doors facing Chambers Road.
