(June 13, 2023) – The Aurora Police Department arrested on Monday two people in connection with a fatal road-rage shooting last week in the Dayton Triangle neighborhood.

Juan Carlos Rivas-Luna, 18, of Aurora, was arrested on one charge of first-degree murder. Aracely Enriquez, 18, also of Aurora, was arrested on one charge of accessory to first-degree murder.

Rivas-Luna and Enriquez were arrested without incident Monday by the Aurora police SWAT Team in the 1000 block of Hanover Street following a week-long investigation by the Major Crime Homicide Unit.

The charges stem from 9:53 p.m. Monday, June 5, when officers responded to a report of a shooting on South Havana Street near East Idaho Place. The investigation revealed the shooting was the result of a road-rage incident.

Aurora Police Investigating Fatal Road-Rage Shooting

(June 6, 2023) – The Aurora Police Department’s Major Crime Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal road-rage shooting in the Dayton Triangle neighborhood.

Patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting at 9:53 p.m. Monday on South Havana Street near East Idaho Place. Preliminary investigation has revealed the shooting stemmed from a road-rage incident.

The victim, a 48-year-old Denver man, was rushed to a local hospital following the shooting with a single gunshot wound. The man later died at the hospital.

There is no suspect information at this time and no arrests have been made. The Aurora Police Department is asking for the public’s help with information about the suspect vehicle, which is described as a red or maroon Ford Explorer with tan trim.

Anyone who was driving on South Havana Street about 9:50 p.m. Monday between East Alameda Avenue and East Idaho Place – and witnessed the suspect vehicle driving erratically – is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867).

Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who might have video of the Explorer.

The victim will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office after notification of next of kin.
