(May 20th, 2023) - The Aurora Police Department's Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that happened Friday night in the Centretech area.
Officers responded to a single motorcycle crash near East Centretech Parkway and South Memphis Street where the solo rider, a 32 year old male, was found deceased on scene. Preliminary investigation indicates the 2015 Yamaha R3 sport bike was traveling west on East Centretech Parkway when it hit a curb and crashed into the roadway.
Officers were made aware of the crash at 11:59 p.m. after an employee of a nearby business noticed the scene. However, upon further investigation, video evidence shows the crash happened a few hours earlier at 9:30 p.m.
The driver died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet. Investigators don't think speed was a contributing factor to the crash.
This investigation is ongoing and the individual's name, along with the official cause and manner of death, will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's office.
The crash marks the 23rd traffic-related death of 2023.
