Aurora Police Major Crimes Unit Investigating Homicide in North Aurora

(May 9, 2023) - The Aurora Police Department’s Major Crimes Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Monday morning in the North Aurora neighborhood.

Aurora patrol officers initially responded to a report of a crash at 12:51 a.m. Monday in the 2200 block of Oakland Street. The caller told dispatchers a pickup hit a parked car.

Officers responded and located an unresponsive man in the driver’s seat of the pickup. Officers provided first aid at the scene until medical personnel arrived. The man was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

Hospital staff informed officers the man sustained a suspected gunshot wound. The investigation was upgraded late Monday afternoon to a homicide.

The man’s name will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office after notification of next of kin.

There is no suspect information. The investigation is active and ongoing.
