(May 27, 2023) - The Aurora Police Department has arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting on May 1 that originated in the Hoffman Heights neighborhood.

Arturo Moreno Torres, 28, of Denver, was arrested by our DART Unit on Friday night and booked into jail on one charge of first-degree murder following weeks of investigation by the Aurora Police Department's Major Crime Homicide Unit. Through their investigation, detectives learned that this began as a road rage incident and that the victim was not known to Arturo.

The investigation remains active and detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).

(May 2, 2023) — The Aurora Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Monday night in the Hoffman Heights neighborhood.

The investigation stems from 11:42 p.m. Monday, when Aurora police officers responded to a local hospital on a report of a man who arrived at the emergency room with multiple gunshot wounds. The man, 28, was rushed to surgery but died from his injuries.

Major Crimes Homicide Unit and General Investigations detectives responded to the hospital and secured the victim’s vehicle, which had several bullet holes. Investigators connected the crime to a shots fired call in the 13100 block of East 13th Place. The scene was located early Tuesday morning and multiple shell casings were recovered.

No suspects have been identified. The investigation is ongoing.

The man’s identity will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.

Anyone with any information about the shooting is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867). Tipsters could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
