(April 28, 2023) — A 41-year-old Denver man died Thursday night in a motorcycle versus car crash in the Aurora Highlands neighborhood.
The crash occurred about 7 p.m. near the intersection of East Mississippi Avenue and South Waco Street. The Denver man was riding a sport bike east on Mississippi when he collided with a white Nissan Sentra that was driving north on Waco attempting to turn left, or west, onto Mississippi Avenue.
There were three occupants in the Nissan Sentra. Two were taken to local hospitals for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.
The Denver man was thrown from the motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
East Mississippi Avenue was closed in both directions for about three hours between South Uravan Street and South Tower Road for the crash investigation. Speed is considered a possible contributing factor.
This is the 17th traffic-related fatality this year in Aurora.
