APD Selected for Law Enforcement Network

The Aurora Police Department Joins the Nation’s First-Ever Law Enforcement-Community Engagement Network
Posted on 04/19/2023

(April 17, 2023) - The Aurora Police Department has been selected to participate in the first cohort of the Law Enforcement Community-Engagement Network (LECEN), the nation's first network to support the critical work of officers tasked with leading community engagement efforts within their departments.

"The Aurora Police Department is proud to be chosen as part of the first LECEN. Our officers strive to work closely with our community to solve public safety concerns through relational policing. Our success comes from the community we serve - strengthening and maintaining public trust is the ultimate goal of our relational policing operational philosophy. Thanks to LECEN, our officers will have additional resources to grow critical community connections," said Art Acevedo, the Aurora Chief of Police.

As a member of LECEN, the Aurora Police Department will have access to more staff development opportunities, will learn about best practices regarding community outreach and will be able to network with fellow law enforcement professionals in similar roles.

APD looks forward to shaping this network into what it will look like once it is fully launched.

The network is convened by MovementForward, Inc., a modern, inclusive social change organization working to protect, promote, and advance all people's civil and human rights.
