Aurora Teenager Arrested on Manslaughter Charges in Shooting of Friend

(April 17, 2023) — An Aurora teenager was arrested over the weekend on manslaughter charges in the shooting death of another teenager.

The shooting occurred about 10:45 p.m. Sunday, during a house party in the 1700 block of Fulton Street. The victim, a 17-year-old boy, was showing his friend, also a 17-year-old boy, how to disassemble a handgun when the friend, armed with his own gun, fired striking the victim in the chest.

Responding officers performed CPR on the victim until Aurora Fire Rescue arrived at the scene. The victim was then taken to the local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The shooter was subsequently arrested on one charge of felony manslaughter and one misdemeanor charge of a juvenile in unlawful possession of a handgun.

The victim will be identified by the Adams County Coroner’s Office. The shooter is not being identified because he is a minor charged in juvenile court.
