Pedestrian Dies Days Later After Crash on E. Alameda Pkwy

(April 11, 2023) – A man has died due to the injuries he sustained when he was struck by a trash truck on April 4.

Officers responded to a crash near East Alameda Parkway and South Buckley Road on April 4 at about 12:15 p.m. The subsequent investigation revealed a man was crossing over Alameda Parkway on the east side of Buckley Road, against the crossing signal, when he was struck by a Suzuki trash truck traveling eastbound. The pedestrian, a 31-year-old man, was transported to the hospital with severe injuries and was pronounced deceased on Friday, April 7. The man driving the truck and his passenger were not injured.

The Aurora Police Traffic Investigations Unit responded to the scene that afternoon and will continue their investigation. Neither speed nor alcohol were contributing factors in the crash and no charges are expected to be filed.

This is the 14th traffic-related fatality this year in Aurora.
