Spring Dance Recitals

White Rabbit

IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN...LET'S GET READY FOR RECITAL!

LAST WEEK WE SENT OUT A HUGE JANUARY NEWSLETTER OF INFORMATION! ONE OF THE BIG ASPECTS OF THAT NEWSLETTER WAS OUR FIRST ROUND OF INFORMATION FOR THE 2023 SPRING DANCE RECITALS!!!

We will be moving to a newer theater this year & we will be having the opportunity to work with an amazing new theater crew. As you most of you know, Aurora Dance Arts does not have it's own dedicated theater space, so we must rent space from Aurora Public Schools for our spring performances. Because of this, we must work within the best availability of the school theaters & the staffing that they have. Though we do our best to give you tentative recital dates at the beginning of the dance year, it must be understood that sometimes we have to alter plans slightly according to what is available to us in the district. However, we are doing our utmost to now communicate those finalized dates to you all with almost 5 months' notice, so that everyone can have as much planning time as possible.

We will also be e-mailing out even more detailed information along with posting this important recital information here on the website in this Spring Dance Recitals section. And your instructors will have information to hand out to you in class in the coming weeks & can expand on any information that we are already providing you.

Please see the general Recital Dates below & mark your calendars:

  • Our Spring Recitals this year will Vista Peak Preparatory.
  • We will be holding two Beg-Adv Level Recitals this year, which includes the levels of Beg, I, II, II/III, III, III/IV & IV. Most classes will just be in either one or the other of these performances. Exact details of the show orders for these Recitals are still being developed, but we will get this information out to you as soon as possible, late Feb/early March, of which classes are performing on which dates. We thank you for your patience in this process, as many factors go into creating these show orders.
  • There will only be one Pre Recital this year, which includes the levels of Tippy Toes, all Pre classes & Adv Pre Ballet.
  • Recital Dates for Beg-Adv Recitals: Either Friday, June 9 or Saturday, June 10 in the evening. *Some students may be in both recitals depending on how many classes they take.
  • Dress Rehearsal for the Friday, June 9 Recital will be on Wednesday, June 7 in the evening.
  • Dress Rehearsal for the Saturday, June 10 Recital will be on Thursday, June 8, in the evening.
  • The Dress Rehearsal & Recital for the Pre levels will both be held on Saturday, June 10, with the Dress Rehearsal in the morning & the Recital in the mid-afternoon.

WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT RECITAL???

COSTUMES:

Your child’s costume is theirs to keep.

If you opted for your costume balance to be added to your Automatic Tuition Payment, then your costume balance will be taken from your card on file with the February 15 AutoPay.

If you opted to not have your costume balance added to your Automatic Tuition Payment, then it must be paid in full by March 31.

Your dance account must be current, including all class & costume fees, before costumes will be distributed. As costumes arrive in the Dance Office, the instructors will periodically bring them into your child's class to make sure that they fit & then get labeled with the child's name. Costumes will start to be distributed in late April & early May as we receive the last of our costume orders. Your instructors will give you details of what shoes, tights, hair & make-up is required of your dancer.

TICKETS FOR RECITAL:

$12 per person, assigned seating. Ticketing site fees do apply for Eventbrite, our ticketing provider.

Tickets go on sale May 1 online on the EventBrite ticketing site. We will provide you a link to the ticket purchase site at the end of April.

Tickets will also be available for purchase at the dress rehearsals & at the door if we have not already sold out. However, because the seating is assigned, we cannot guarantee how many seats will be available and/or if you will be able to get seats all together with your family. Purchasing tickets in advance is highly recommended!

Every person over 2 years of age attending the recital must have a ticket. If you have a child under the age of 2, they are free & may sit on your lap for the duration of the show.

Do not buy a ticket for your dance student who is in the performance. They are performing & thus, do not require a ticket.

PERSONAL RECITAL PHOTOGRAPHY:

Photography and videography are permitted ONLY during the dress rehearsal.

Cameras will not be allowed in the theater during performances. Flash photography, videography & camera lights can: be hazardous for the dancers, violate the integrity of the instructors’ choreography & be distracting to those around you. We appreciate your respect for this policy.

PROFESSIONAL VIDEOGRAPHY OF THE SHOW:

A professional company, AkVideo, will film all recitals. DVD’s or Mp4’s of the recitals will be available for purchase. Forms will be handed out in classes in May & will also be available in the lobby at Recital.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS:

We will be seeking Parent Volunteers both for backstage help & usher/front of house help for the Recitals. We will be sending out a Sign-up if you would like to volunteer. Parent volunteer help is integral to our shows running smoothly & we very much appreciate any help you might be able to provide. Backstage volunteers will not need a ticket for Recital.
