Peoria Station

Location: About 1,000 feet west of Peoria Street. Serves as the transfer station between the R Line and the University of Colorado A Line commuter rail, and an end-of-line station for the R Line (which provides service between the Peoria Station and the Lincoln Station). Access to the station is from 33rd Avenue and Moline Street

Parking: 550 commuter spaces, and a bus transfer facility

Vision: The land uses close to the station are mostly industrial and office, creating great potential for redevelopment. The station is close to the Stapleton and Morris Heights neighborhoods, and is one stop away from the Fitzsimons Innovation District and the Anschutz Medical Campus. The new Peoria Crossing bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad and East Rail Line tracks provides good vehicular access to station-area properties and I-70 along with visibility from Peoria Street (35,000-plus average vehicles per day).

Connectivity: The city has built improvements such as new sidewalks and bicycle lanes to improve pedestrian and cyclist access to the station. The Peoria-Smith Bike/Pedestrian Improvements project used federal and local funds to construct a six-foot sidewalk and curb ramps along the south and west sides of East 30th Avenue and Nome Street, installed a new trail connection to the Sand Creek Regional Trail, built a new 10-foot detached sidewalk on the east side of Peoria Street between East 30th Avenue and Baranmor Parkway, and installed new signage and striping for dedicated bike lanes along Baranmor Parkway from Peoria to Xanadu streets.
