Aurora Community Connection
Volunteers are needed for the tutoring program that focuses on reading intervention and homework assistance. The program is offered Monday through Thursday. Two sessions are available, 3:30-4:30 p.m. or 4:30-5:30 p.m. The program has a strong focus of helping students achieve reading skills at their grade level. Volunteer Probation Officer
The City of Aurora Probation Office is currently recruiting Volunteer Probation Officers. The Volunteer Probation Officer performs duties similar to the Probation Officer. Participants will gain personal satisfaction, work experience and an opportunity to develop new skills in an exciting and challenging field. VPO’s play an important role in supporting the work of Probation Officers.
The Volunteer Probation Officer will work with and under the supervision of a Probation Officer. Specific duties may include learning a variety of case management practices, data entry, filing, case documentation as well as monitoring a defendant's compliance with court ordered conditions.
Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree in psychology, criminal justice or social services. An Associate's Degree may be considered. Qualified candidates must also pass a background check. Volunteers must be available for training/volunteering during normal business hours, Monday - Friday. Individual work schedule will be determined on an individual basis.

Remembers at Colorado Freedom Memorial on Saturday, May 27, 2017
The Colorado Freedom Memorial is the first monument in America to honor veterans of all wars, by name, in one place, regardless of rank, branch of service or conflict. This beautiful monument honors all Colorado veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. On May 27, there will be a ceremony and a free concert celebrating those heroes. The ceremony will start at 11 a.m., followed by a free concert. The Colorado Freedom Memorial is located at Spring Hill Park, 756 Telluride St., Aurora, CO 80011, near Buckley Air Force Base.
We have two volunteer shifts available, shift 1 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., or shift 2 from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Volunteers will be requested to assist at the welcome booth and volunteer headquarters, prepare food for event patrons and assist patrons to their vehicles in a golf cart. Garden Volunteer Day
Come help us plant vegetables and herbs in our culinary garden for our cooking class program. We will plant seedlings, sow seeds and prepare the garden for summer. Lunch is provided!
